Message From the Director

Welcome to the Urology Residency Program at Franciscan Health-Olympia Fields. This ACGME-accredited program was established in 1978. We offer a five-year comprehensive training program for one resident per year whose training will be based at Franciscan Health-Olympia Fields and several strong affiliate rotation sites in the Chicagoland area. Our program offers comprehensive training in all Urologic subspecialties with a strong emphasis on endourology, complex urologic oncology and reconstructive urology to prepare residents for competent and confident independent practice upon graduation.

The objective of the Urology program at Franciscan Health is to train urologists of the highest quality with the knowledge, clinical acumen and surgical skills to care for the entire spectrum of urological disorders. We aim to balance a rigorous academic training program with a strong didactic curriculum, diverse surgical caseload, and invaluable research experience. Particular emphasis is placed on teaching our residents the importance of establishing strong physician-patient relationships by the priority we place on continuity of care. We expect that the residents trained in our program will become leaders in the urology community and that they will practice urology with personal integrity, high ethical standards, and respect for the rights of patients entrusted to their care while adhering to osteopathic principles and practices.

Graduates of Franciscan Health have gone on to practice in a variety of setting and locations across the United States. Over half of previous graduates have gone straight into practice while confidently performing subspecialty procedures, speaking to the comprehensive training received during their 5-year residency. Fellowships obtained by prior residents include urologic oncology, reconstructive urology, female urology & pelvic floor reconstruction, endourology, laparoscopy & robotics.
